This image includes the FIPS 140-2 kernel and cryptographic modules out of the box, along with all the features of Ubuntu Pro, such as expanded security patches for over 23,000 packages available in the Ubuntu Universe repository. Additionally, this AMI includes security updates for all the packages, including FIPS-certified modules.
Ubuntu Pro FIPS also incorporates Canonical's Ubuntu USG (Ubuntu Security Guide) tooling for guided compliance, with hardening profiles from CIS (Center for Internet Security) and DISA STIG (Defense Information Systems Agency Security Technical Implementation Guides).

For Ubuntu Cloud Guest it is suggested to manually configure your Security Group/Firewall settings. The 1-Click Security Group opens only port 22 so that you can access your instance via ssh using login 'ubuntu'. If you chose the 1-Click Security Group, you may change it later to enable applications using the AWS Console or API.
