Skills to Jobs Tech Alliance: United States
A coalition of employers, education and training providers, collaborating organizations and government that addresses technical skills gaps and prepares learners for in-demand jobs.
Building tech skills in the United States
The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Skills to Jobs Tech Alliance (Tech Alliance) works backwards from employer demand by partnering with educational institutions, industry convening organizations, government bodies, and employers to offer pathways to entry-level jobs in cloud support, software development, and data analysis. The Tech Alliance works in three priority regions: New York, Illinois and Washington.
Through the Tech Alliance, employers gain access to a pipeline of job-ready talent and participate in activities that help students learn about career paths and apply for their first role in the cloud. Activities may include:
- Providing feedback on job role skills maps
- Participating in experiential and hands-on-learning opportunities
- Hosting Career Days for students on-site or virtually
- Attending job fairs (virtual and in-person)
- Providing interview (technical and behavioral) support for students
- Participating in AWS Jams (hackathons)

Employers find it challenging to recruit, hire, and retain cloud-skilled talent. By collaborating with AWS, educational institutions, and other organizations, employers can build a tech talent pipeline. Employers in the Tech Alliance collaborate with educational institutions to evaluate curricula, develop capstone projects, and interview and hire talent. Tech Alliance employers engage with learners through experiential learning opportunities, applied learning events such as AWS Jams and AWS DeepRacer, and job fairs to help students learn about career paths and apply for their first role in the cloud.
